A failover card is an addon network card (included as a standard option in certain models) which allows the unit to fail over in the event of power loss or a hardware/software failure and join the two network cables that were being bridged by the device.
This additional functionality allows the unit to be taken out of line when desired, and allows the client to reduce the risk in the event of a failure. Failover cards can also be used as plain LAN cards to support more ports on the Opteq iQ device.
Optional Cards
- 2 Port Failover - this allows two network cables to be bridged through the unit, or can be used as an extra 2 LAN ports.
- 2 Port Optical Fibre Failover - identical to above, but for fiber.
- 4 Port Failover - this allows up to four networks to be bridged in seperate groups or as one group, or can be used as an extra 4 LAN ports.
