Web caches bring two main benefits to an ISP: improved response times and more efficient use of bandwidth.
Web caches often will save at in the region of 40- 60% of upstream HTTP bandwidth whilst at the same time provide detailed reporting. They can be installed transparently in the line of traffic with zero client side configurations. Deploying a cache significantly reduces the "world wide wait" problem-by storing Web objects closer to end users. Cached data is served almost instantaneously, while requests that have to go to the origin server typically take at least several seconds to be fulfilled.
The fact that data is delivered from the cache and does not have to be collected upstream every time can reduce bandwidth costs by 50% which is crucial to ISPs as they grow their business and expand their customer base.
Opteq caters for both enterprise and ISP cache requirements.
Netcache clusters?
Historically NetCache has been a product that was a favourite with ISP's worldwide and was specifically targeted at and developed for the ISP market. Recently Bluecoat purchased the company and discontinued the product range as it was very similar to their own product. Opteq fully integrates into Net cache clusters.
