What is real time iQ

The Opteq Real Time iQ is a comprehensive network monitoring, analysis, and reporting tool. It was designed primarily to enable clients to gain knowledge about their network in order to be able to make informed decisions about how best to manage their network. More specifically it was designed to work in conjunction with the Opteq Bandwidth iQ Module to assist in designing rules and policies and to make the best use of the network bandwidth available. It is very difficult to design rulesets without knowledge of what is happening on the network itself.

Real time iQ is quite capable of being a stand-alone tool for use as a monitoring, analysis or troubleshooting tool and many clients are using it as such because of its relative power, simplicity, and cost. The RMON module basically consists of two primary routines or tools. A monitor routine, which runs in real time and summarizes data into easy to read, graphically based tables and pictures. And, a packet-capture routine, which stores a packet stream onto disk for later viewing, analysis, or download.
